My Positive Mantras

Sometimes in life you just need a positive mantra to get you through. We all have days, weeks, months or even years we need to bounce back from.
I am a sucker for a good quote and have them in my house, on my phone, laptop wallpaper, EVERYWHERE!!
I decided to take a few of my faves that I’ve made with picmonkey and share them with you.

Crown Reef Resort Myrtle Beach SC Review

This past weekend I decided to take the kids on a much needed weekend getaway. We needed to get out of town and have some nice, relaxing time together. We had an amazing time and honestly really can’t wait to go back.
We stayed at Crown Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach SC. I was surprised by the price point being so affordable for what they offered so I wasn’t sure what to expect on arrival.

The biggest draw of this hotel was the indoor water park. With it being March, I wasn’t sure if the weather would hold up for us and I wanted to make sure the kids had an enjoyable time no matter what. Luckily the weather was beautiful, but this water park was a hit. My son basically lived on the 2 large water slides. They also had a splash pad and smaller slide for my daughters age group.

Since it was so gorgeous, we got to enjoy the 2 large outdoor pools, large lazy river that circled the tiki bar area and several outdoor hot tubs. They also had an indoor pool which we didn’t even step inside in all honesty.

To top it off this resort had a restaurant called Loco Gecko for the times we just didn’t want to eat in the room along with an arcade, ice cream shop, coffee and breakfast café and a small store. This made it SO amazingly easy to travel with kids. We only left the resort once because there was just so much to keep them occupied. Myrtle Beach is a location I have taken the kids several times so we weren’t really looking to be true tourist and get out and explore. We’ve done that too much to count so having all of this in one resort made it truly successful in the R&R.

I am so happy with this mini trip that I’ve already started planning the next one. Thank you to the friendly staff for making it an enjoyable stay.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Baked Mac and Cheese
I wanted to share my favorite mac and cheese recipe with everyone. This is a Paula Deen recipe but I use it all of the time. As a bonus the rest of my family loves it too 🙂 It is easy and super yummy.

4 cups cooked elbow macaroni, drained ( about 2 cups uncooked)
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
4 tablespoons butter (1/2 stick) cut into pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
After macaroni as been boiled and drained, add cheddar cheese while macaroni is still hot.
Combine remaining ingredients and add to macaroni mixture.
Pour into casserole dish and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Top with additional cheese if you want.

DHC Acne Spot Treatment Review

Struggling with adult acne is the worst! I thought this would be done and over with in my teen years. I never expected it to follow me around into my 30’s. UGH!!!
I’m constantly updating my routines and looking for ways to keep my skin clear. I thought I had it down for about a year and then a few months ago BAM, it reared its ugly head again.
I went on the search for some great solutions. Where did I look you ask? Beauty Youtubers of course lol.
So after watching Nicole Guerriero’s most recent skin care routine (link here if interested), I decided to take action.
She said she found a product called DHC Acne Spot Treatment and it was working great.
So I hoped on Amazon and ordered it right away. (Find the link here)
This product is Japanese I believe. Not 100% sure.
It has sulfur as an active ingredient.
This stuff OMG. Miracles. No other words.
When it arrived I  had these 3 bumps that had appeared right under my jaw area the night before. Almost like they knew I needed to try this product. Arghh.
So this is pic #1. Bumps were just beginning and before I had applied any of the spot treatment.

So below in pic #2 was the next morning. I had done my regular nighttime routine and added the spot treatment right after the toner the night before. Woke up the next morning to completely dried up bumps. They were not sore at all, just slightly raised marks.

Oh my goodness. I can’t even describe how exciting this is. Acne usually hangs around for quite some time on me. Days upon days of dealing with it.
I’ve used it a few times since this test and if I use it at the first sign of a bump then it is literally gone the next morning.

I think this is definitely worth a shot if you are like me and just completely over the weekly struggle.

Achieving Your Destiny

I heard the greatest thing today. Something that I desperately needed to hear.
I’ve been in a rut and really struggling with some things that are better left in the past. I’m so exhausted from them creeping up and making their way into my present and holding me back.
So when the pastor said this in the Sunday service I just knew it was meant for me…

“You have to step out of your history to achieve your destiny.”

Not sure if this was a quote he has heard elsewhere or something he came up with on his own, but I had never heard it before.
And when he said it this morning it was like a punch to the gut. Like uh yeah, that one was aimed right for me.
Learning to let go and not be burdened and defined by what has happened in my past has turned out to be far more of a struggle than I had ever imagined possible. It is ingrained in my brain and can even effect some of the choices I make to this day.
Everyone has something that they struggle with, some more than others, but on some level we can all relate.

The past is just life lessons preparing us for the future. We were not meant to dwell on the past and become miserable. We are here to live the fullest life we possibly can and that is not possible when we are stuck in our history.

I plan on achieving my destiny one step at a time. Everyday I want to wake up with the intention of getting closer and closer to the person I choose to be, not what someone else made me feel I was.
