This homemade fun dough is so much fun for the kids. We have been in a bit of a rainy spell this last week. The kids are becoming bored very quickly. We have built indoor forts, balloon fights on the covered porch, played school for my youngest, put them to work by teaching them to do their own laundry (yes even my 3 year old!), etc. I have been running out of things for them to do.
I wrote down a recipe a couple of months ago for some homemade fun dough. I dug out the recipe and had all of the ingredients needed without having to go to the store in the POURING rain. YAY!
So I got the kids in the kitchen and started.
You will need
3/4 cup salt
1 & 1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
1 pkg Kool Aid
1. Combine salt, flour, and Kool Aid in the bowl and mix
2. Add the oil and stir
3. Slowly add the water a bit at a time and knead until the mixture is smooth.
If it is too dry, add water
It too wet, add flour
That’s it. It’s that simple. It feels a little different that Play-Do, but it serves the same purpose for cheaper and the kids will have fun making it themselves. As an added bonus the Kool Aid colors and scents the fun dough.
Ours turned out slightly dry so I did add a little bit of water. Now a little bit goes a very long way, just FYI.
My daughter is the only one that stuck around for some pictures. My son took off to throw his at anything he could find.
This turned out to be hours of fun and only took a couple of minutes to make. Make sure to store it in a ziplock bag. Unfortunately my son forgot his for a couple days and by the time he found it, it was a goner.
